I was super excited to see this update but there is a few bugs I'm afraid. Small one: Not all iDrive controllers have the same buttons. So "map" in mine opens the contacts. Big ones: 1. The media opens Apple music, not the one that's currently playing. So if I use Podcast app, even if it's playing at that moment, Apple music opens on button press. 2. The Menu button still doesn't bring you to the Carplay "dashboard" where you see the map, music play and calendar etc. Competitor MMI boxes do this. Disappointed it was missed again as I've mailed this feedback to you folks in the past.

Does the update include BMW F10 MMI unit as well?

Seems like it isn't upgradable for my 2014 i3 with MMI Prime--followed install instructions but no update occurred; thankfully it all still works! I can't find my car on the BimmerTech website anymore, sigh. Stuck on version 3.1.1.6s from 2021...

Maybe if I could get the thing to update to the last version before this one I'd try it, but it's been a big fail for months...

Will newly ordered boxes come with this software included?

Trying to do mine but keeps going to red screen and then black screen with nothing showing on the display. I hold back and it reboots the mmi on the old version

I've purchased a replacement screen for my 2015 F30 and it is an exact replacement (I have the 8.8" screen from factory). The trim came off fine, and the screws are removed, but the wire running to the original screen that it will barely lift an inch off the dashboard. Nothing else is holding it. The wiring harness is extremely short. I can't turn it around or get behind it to disconnect the wires. Any advice would be appreciated.

Excited to go update my MMI Pro. Any plans to increase the USB output amperage? I use Android Auto/MMI with USB to be compatible with my wireless dashcam, and over long road trips my phone slowly discharges.

Hello, everyone. I can confirm overall satisfaction with the sound system (speakers plus amplifier). At first the sound was highly imperfect, but I have to say that with a lot of patience, customer care sent me a series of files (and I eventually learned how to use the tool too) and now the sound is almost perfect (Z4 G29). A complete guide about the DSP tool could very useful and appreciated.

I have alpha one speakers and the amp. Deffo worth it…… brilliant sound clarity bass. Harmon kardon system is rubbish compared to this..

NO hardware upgrade needed to upgrade the iDrive platform. I have a 2017 330e offering the iDrive5. I upgraded to the iDrive6 with coding through OBDEleven and it only cost 60 credits.

No idea why it's not made 1000% clear in the video but you need to disconnect both the trunk and auxiliary battery or you risk frying your shift module. As simple as this mod seems if you manhandle the ribbon cable or leave either battery connected your car could very well end up on a tow truck.

So this don't work on an m440i with iphone? Was about to buy it

The only problem i see with android auto is that i cannot see usb stored music songs on the car center display as it only displays the music file of android phone. Not sure is there any way to show USB media on android auto screen?

I bought E36,90,F30 and G20. Their focus changed since F30, technology and gadget are the priorities, performance comes second, no longer the ultimate driving machine like it used to be.

I own the car above and I have to say the system sounds excellent. Because I enjoy a lot of bass I also installed a powered sub in the trunk and with bimmertech’s support we tuned the DSP so that the bass coming from the cabins 8’s are dialed back and the 10” in the trunk is controlled using a gain knob installed in the cabin…..The bass is thunderous 😊

The 3 series died after the e90 and even the e90 was a stretch the e46 is a much better car

Hi! So I have a 2011 BMW X5 xdrive 35i. I am new to the BMW world. I am curious if there is a system I can buy that allows for Apple/Android play with Bluetooth capabilities? Or is this kind of the only option? I’d there is other versions what do I look for when trying to buy a system? Thanks in advance! Finally bought my first ever BMW it's a M440i with all the bells and whistles! Excited to pick it up next week!

I have a 2018 328d wagon with only 67000km’s on it (6 years old in Oct). I have yet to see anything new that would tempt me to trade it in…unless we get an M3 Competition Touring in Canada!
